Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

Information disclosed by you during the course of your therapy is generally confidential. The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.

However, there are exceptions to confidentiality including, but not limited to reporting child, elder and dependent adult abuse, expressed threats of violence towards an identifiable victim, and where you tender your mental or emotional state in a legal proceeding. In the event that a client is a threat to themselves, I will make every effort to work cooperatively to ensure their safety and will take additional steps should our cooperative efforts not be successful. In no way is this meant to be an invasion of your privacy but is necessary to make sure you and others in the community are safe.

Appointment Scheduling and Cancellation Policies

Sessions are typically scheduled to occur one time per week at the same time and day if possible.  Your consistent attendance greatly contributes to a successful outcome. In order to cancel or reschedule an appointment, you are expected to notify your therapist at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment. If you do not provide your therapist with at least 24 hours’ notice in advance, you are responsible for payment for the missed session. Please understand that your insurance company will not pay for missed or canceled sessions.
